The Wildlife of WilMar Oaks

Steelhead and salmon are abundant for a summer fish fry. Eagles also swoop down to feast on them. Mountain quail gather in the front yard to feed. Pairs of Canadian geese return every spring to hatch their goslings. Pheasants nest in the thickets. Cougers, cyotees, skunks and oppossums also make their way to the river's edge for watering. The river otters have made slides for playing at the water's edge. The deer help us eat five varieties of apples and two varieties of pears.

English walnuts, smooth shell black walnuts, Italian chestnuts, filberts, hardshell almonds, and pecan trees provide tasty treats for us, the squirrels and the chipmunks. Chamomile for tea grows in the driveways. Cultivated strawberries grow well near the chestnut trees. Spearmint, wild celery, wild grapes, wild cherry plums, cherries, domestic prune plums, peaches, apricots, nectarines, blackberries, mulberries and raspberries grow plentifully along this river estate. WilMar Oaks is a nice mixture of wilderness and home.
